Hey guys and happy Monday to you.
I hope you all had a great weekend filled with unforgettable memories, smiles, and good digestion.
I'm pretty stoked because I just got back from my first ever professional tour. It was unlike anything I've ever experienced musically. I'm talking luxury rental car door to door service, being put up in hotels, professional stages, pro sound guys, premier venues, audiences packing the dance floors to the back, and barricades to keep the audience from jumping on the stage. It was a riot.
It's pretty cool how the whole thing fell into place. I got an email from a guy saying he liked my playing and was interested in gigging and possibly recording. I said sure let's hang and see how the chemistry is. He said cool, do you know any other players? I said yeah my roommate and all-star mandolin player Dan Bui.
Later that week two guys, Jed Rosen and Jon Cumming show up to hang and play under the guise that they were playing for The JCB. We jammed, had a laugh and then they proposed some dates to play at bars. And we did. We later found out that they were actually looking for new members of another group that has reached considerable success because they have been building it for years. The band is entitled Hot Day at The Zoo.
We crushed the bar gigs, recorded a little bit, and Jon and Jed proposed some other dates. By what seemed like a a snap of their fingers, we got a headlining set at Syracuse's premier venue The Westcott Theater followed by another headlining set at The Java Barn, a venue located in St. Lawrence University that has an extremely dedicated audience who loves live music more than I've ever witnessed in my life.
Anyway here are some pictures from the advenure
More to come. Keep in touch :D
